My Story
Christine Young, Owner

Hearth and Seoul embodies the fusion of two passions dear to my heart: the cherished memories of cooking alongside my Korean mother and my 16 year journey into the world of herbalism and integrative healthcare. Growing up, the kitchen was a place of warmth and connection, where my mother's meticulous preparation of every meal was a labor of love, a tradition I hold dear to this day. I will always remember the smell of barley tea steaming on the stove and homemade Korean meals.

There's a certain magic in the way my mother infused every dish with love and care, and it's that same essence I seek to share with my local community.  My shop in the Highlands of Denver currently offers bulk herbs, custom tea blends, and natural products. You can also find me at various farmers markets and pop up events.

At the markets and pop-ups I'll be offering traditionally made kimchi, custom herbal tea blends and products as well as some Korean treats on occasion. Please stop by and say hello!

It's important to me to support local and organic sources, and I'm always on the lookout for more local farms and women owned or BIPOC owned businesses to collaborate with. If you're a grower or have a favorite product, please don't hesitate to reach out – I'd love to strengthen our local community together.

About the shop

Hearth and Seoul Herbal Shop

Hearth and Seoul Herbal Shop is a neighborhood herb and tea shop that aims to be accessible and sustainable to the surrounding community. We recognize that herbalism in general can often feel unapproachable or inaccessible, but we encourage curiosity and conversations so that we can overcome any obstacles that may keep you hesitant to explore herbalism.

Accessibility:
Whether you're just learning about herbs or are experienced and curious how you can be supported on your health journey, enjoy natural products, or are a tea lover we are here to support the community.

Sustainability:
This is one of our pillars as we implement ways to reduce waste and plastic use within our shop. We source herbs from regenerative farms, organic farms and some of our herbs are ethically wildcrafted. We have relationships with local farms in Colorado and South Korea, as well as with organic herb suppliers in the US.

Cultural Connection:
One of the important parts of the journey to opening this shop was reaching back to Christine's roots in South Korea where the love of nature, plants, and healing was passed down from her grandmother and her mother. She aims to share and connect traditional herbs, skincare, and foods with the community and share in the culture of others.

The Staff at Hearth and Seoul Herbal Shop in Denver

Hearth and Seoul Herbal Shop is run by a small team of amazing women. Owned by Christine Young, a Korean American Herbalist, she is supported by her herbal apprentice and friend, Becca and another Korean American Herbalist, Heidi, who will be taking clients for consultations for the shop.  Both Becca and Heidi have worked tirelessly to help get the shop up and running and continue to support Christine as she navigates running a small herbal shop to help support the community. The shop is partnering with various vendors including Korean farms to bring something fresh and vibrant to herbal formulas and products you would normally find in an herbal shop.

Becca is the creative genius behind some of the stickers, totes and labels in our shop. She's also the plant guru who helps decide which plants go in the shop and keeps them alive. If you're interested in a house plant consultation or a custom sticker, she's your person!

Heidi is another Korean American Herbalist who found my shop and wanted to be a part of the Korean influence that the shop is trying to integrate into the western herbalism model. As a registered nurse and a background in clinical herbalism she's starting up her practice at the shop and will be taking clients interested in herbal consultations.
