The Hearth Project
An initiative to create equitable access to wellness, preserve and invest in healing traditions, and provide paid opportunities to our BIPOC community

About Heidi Hayes, R.N., Herbalist As an herbalist, I believe that partnering with medicinal plants fosters improved well-being and enriches healing. Daily regimens and practices also strongly influence our health journey. Sliding Scale & Pay What You Can
We offer culturally rooted classes, and opportunities to learn from other cultures, traditions, and modern practices. Bringing visibility to diverse practices can help connect and bridge gaps within our communities.
Cultural healing practices can include: Korean tea ceremonies, herbal medicine making, meditation practices rooted in diverse traditions, dance, art, cooking classes, and storytelling.

What these digital resources can look like: digital and physical library of healing practices, recipes, and stories community-contributed content with proper attribution Educational resources for practitioners and participants
Cultural Wisdom Archive
Digital & Physical Library
We are working on a free library resource with diverse authors, traditions, and cultural traditions to bring inclusive and diverse teachings into the herbalism and wellness spaces for our community, staff and interns to research from. We'll be including a digital archive of stories, recipes and practices to connect others searching for relevance in their own practices and traditions.
Paid Opportunities
Guest Teachers & Interns
Guest Teachers: We offer paid compensation with a minimum regardless of sign ups to eliminate stress of turnout. If one person shows up, we're happy to share these classes. We do marketing, social media posts and articles for the digital library to link back to the teacher for visibility. We have a form you can fill out for any BIPOC teacher with a culturally rooted class idea that would like to share their offerings.
Internship to Practitioner: We hire interns who have finished an herbalism program and are looking for professional and business skills development. Interning at the shop and learning how to create your own community care classes with a culturally rooted platform, learning from our community care herbalist doing clinical mentorship, and research on a personal project.

The Hearth Project Story

Why the Hearth Project?
When I opened my doors, it was to create a space I found lacking in Denver. Somewhere I could share my love for herbalism, tea, and food from my culture and heritage. What I didn't expect that there were so many others looking for a similar space. Hearth and Seoul has grown to fill a need in the community for visibility in wellness spaces that showcase diversity, cultural traditions and modern interpretations, and opportunities for economic impact on those historically underserved. Through connection and culture we hope to showcase how focusing on equity in wellness spaces can increase mental wellness.
We aim to create metrics with our project to serve as a base line for other small businesses with impactful community care projects to show that we are on the ground, sharing what we love, and taking action in our local communities to make a difference, and that we are fundable. More than ever we need to support our small businesses that uphold our communities in ways that are not always noticed or studied.
